At Taste, we are curators of delicious things, and creators of tasteful events and gatherings...

Our store is located on the river side of the Historic Marketplace District of Owego, NY. Named the Coolest Small Town in America in 2009, it is filled with stunning architecture, galleries, great restaurants, a craft brewery, winery, and lovely shops selling unique gifts and antiques. It is located at the gateway to the Finger Lakes, and the Finger Lakes Wine and Beer Trails. The Owego Merchants Association hosts a monthly First Friday Art Walk, Lights on the River, the Strawberry Fest, Farm to Fork seasonal farmers market, and many other fun family events throughout the year. We are also just steps from the beautiful River Walk that trails behind our historic buildings.

We have a small store, and a wonderful client base that we adore. We take our role as curators of delicious products very seriously to ensure we meet the high expectations our clients have for quality, taste, exclusivity, ethics, and great design. We give our artisans and makers the same respect, and work hard to become brand ambassadors that they feel connected to.

You'll find the work of more than 50 brands and makers on our shelves that represent the very best organic ingredients, artisanal foods and products such as tea, coffee and tisanes, and a large selection of handcrafted gourmet goods to make the most every day meal absolutely extraordinary. Each product has been thoughtfully selected, chosen for its taste, quality, and its contributions to a better world. We feature goods that are locally and regionally made, wholly made in the USA, and certified as fairly traded through our Alliance Partnership with Ten Thousand Villages. This summer we are set to expand and become your favorite first stop on your way to adventures in the Finger Lakes. We will have everything you need to have a delicious day or weekend trip including custom picnic baskets and market totes filled with Finger Lakes creations, tourist guides, maps and information, and seasonal products from local farms who specialize in charcuterie, breads, cheeses, preserves and more. We will also offer clients the opportunity to pick up their CSA shares from selected farms at our store.

At Taste, we are farmers, artists and craftspeople. We are connected to each other through our love of the earth, the arts, our crafts, and the greater good. We love what we do and we love to share it, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my culinary experiences and love of good food, and great design with you.

Simply put, we are here to help you live a delicious life, and we cannot wait to meet you.

Warmly,

Colleen Cheechalk - curator and owner

There should be nothing routine about the selection and roasting of coffee, just as there should be nothing routine in the ritual of buying, grinding, brewing and enjoying your coffee at home. We opened our doors with Norwich's FoJo Beans, and have now expanded to include Ithaca's Copper Horse Coffee, and soon we will welcome Peaks Coffee from Cazenovia, Brandywine Coffee Roasters from Delaware, and Ithaca's iconic Gimme! Coffee.

Our selection is hand picked to offer you the very best each creates, and you'll find many seasonal offerings and extra special micro-lots. Our knowledgeable staff can help you find a coffee you will love, and assist you with any questions you might have regarding grinding, brewing, storage, and enjoyment. Each day we sample a selection from our current offerings, And we encourage you to try them and ask questions.

Our coffee is available in single origin and blends, and our requirements for quality is a stringent as it is for our teas, with ethical selection and manufacture being required, and we do not offer any which are flavored as the beans are of lesser quality and artificially flavored. At this time our coffees are sold as whole bean only, but we are hoping to offer you the option of grinding soon.

We are able to ship delicious coffee to you anywhere in the US. Watch soon for our monthly coffee club!

As farmers of organically managed land we know and have been involved in the small farm movement for almost 20 years. We also understand the many challenges that come along with it! Now that we have our lovely shop, we wanted to do something unique to give back to our community, and to help promote relationships between the farmers and producers, and the people who want their products.

We currently have beautiful organically raised brown chicken eggs and duck eggs each Saturday, and will be adding seasonal produce, cheeses and meats soon.

If you would like to serve Taste's clients, please contact Colleen at taste@tasteowego.com. We are looking for farms and makers who take great pride in their craft, and can consistently supply our store throughout their growing season(s). Preference is given to those farms producing heirloom varieties of produce and heritage breeds of livestock and poultry, and game meats.
